Summer is just around the corner and that means you’re probably going to perspire. OK, sweat. When it comes to your feet, a simple little tea bag can save you the embarrassment of seeing the faces around you pinched in disgust when you take off your shoes and stink bomb everyone with your sour peds.

When the obvious steps of scrubbing your feet with a loofah and some antibacterial soap, changing and washing socks daily, switching shoes so you aren’t over using your favorite stink-vessles, and opting for open shoes so your little stinkers can breathe have all failed you…a little Lipton may be your biggest ally.

Tea’s styptic tannins (soluble astringent complex phenolic substances of plant origin used especially in tanning, dyeing, the making of ink, and in medicine) work to close off sweat glands. Try brewing a couple of tea bags in boiling water for about 15 minutes. Get one of those tubs to soak your feet in and mix your tea with about an equal part of cool water. You don’t want the mixture to be cold but you don’t want to scald yourself, either. Soak your feet for 20-30 minutes. Rinse them off, which will help to minimize any possible discoloration…since tea is a natural tanning agent, you’ll want to keep an eye on your feet and change to a weaker brand of tea if you see substantial discoloration (which is rare). Voila ““ stink-free feet to take you from the baseball field to the concrete jungle.
