I think the last time I was instructed to color in the lines I still wore pigtails and recited the “Pledge of Allegiance” each morning. However, I recently found myself reclined in a plush leather chair being told the same thing. The west coast eyebrow guru herself, Anastasia Soare, demonstrated how to fill in sparse areas with powder to achieve my perfect arch. My #1 pet peeve about brow grooming is that I end up with two great looking eyebrows that appear nothing alike. Apparently, Anastasia recognized this problem as well and created signature Stencils, available in Petite Arch, Slim High, Medium and High Arch. Soare briefly explained how to determine the appropriate stencil – which I learned is used only on your first appointment.
At first, I didn’t really grasp the purpose of eyebrow artists using stencils, because where is the art in that? Although the stencils come in only four different shapes, they create distinct looks for various bone structures. Since it’s no secret that Anastasia is practically responsible for most of the enviable arches in Hollywood, the fact that there are four arches is a great thing. In this town, no one wants to be a clone. The stencils are so user friendly that it now looks like a professional retouches my brows each morning. That solves pet peeve #2, which is never getting my brows to look as flawless as they do when I leave the salon.
Anastasia’s grooming has been compared to an instant facelift because of the way her arches completely open up and refresh one’s face.
