BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: What are the benefits of false lashes?
LA SONYA: False lashes are great for adding a little or a lot of definition and dimension to your eyes. They can create fuller, longer looking lashes for someone who may have short lashes or lashes that are sparse. They can also give a simple make up look a little drama if you going out for a night on the town. I love them! They are just simply a lot of fun!
BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: Are there different types of lashes to choose from?
LA SONYA: Lashes can come in many styles, lengths, sizes and colors. I will list a few for you:
Lashes with a full band – Creates a denser, fuller look for lashes.
Individual lashes- These can be added into your own actual lashes if they are sparse. They can also be added in to give a wispier effect to your lashes.
Lashes with an invisible band – These lashes can be applied without adding liner later to cover up the band.
Brown Lashes- Brown Lashes are great for someone who may feel, that black lashes can be too dramatic.
Black Lashes – These are the most popular. They give a more dramatic look.
BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: What is the most effective way in which to apply false eyelashes?
LA SONYA: The most effective way I find to apply lashes is by checking the size of the band. You can do this by placing the false lash over your own lash just to get an idea of what it is going to look like. This also checks the size of the band of the false lashes.
If the band seems a bit long, you can cut a 1/4 inch of the band from the inner side of the lash to get a better fit.
Next, apply a bit of smoky shadow or liner right on the base of lash line. This will allow you to get better placement when applying your lashes. It also helps to conceal the lashes after you have applied them. Try to get as close to the natural lash line as possible.
Once the adhesive has dried, press the false lashes together gently with your natural lashes, using your index finger and your thumb. This will help get a better blend and more natural look.
BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: How do you get them to stay on all day or night?
LA SONYA: Having the right type of adhesive will help your lashes to stay. Apply the adhesive to the lash band (I take a Q-tip and cut the cotton part off and use the stick to apply the adhesive). After applying adhesive on the lash band, let it set for a moment. This allows the glue to get a bit sticky for better application and staying power. Be sure to focus on the outer and inner corners of the lash band. This is usually where the staying power for your lashes is needed. Be careful and don’t squeeze you eyes shut too tight until the glue has dried.
BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: How do you remove them without any damage or issues to your eyes?
LA SONYA: The adhesive dries down to a clear rubber like form. You gently peel the lashes off from outer corner to inner corner. This helps them to come off very easily without causing any damage or pain to the lid or the lash. I use a bit of Vaseline on the base of the lash line when I am taking off individual lashes. Because they are individually placed, they are not as easy to see like the full band lashes.
BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: Is the glue safe to use around your eye area?
LA SONYA: Duo Eyelash adhesive is specifically made for the application of lashes. It comes in a white shade, which will dry down clear. It also comes in a gray tone when you do not want to apply eyeliner over the lash band. It is safe and the only type of adhesive that should be used when applying lashes. I highly recommend it.
BEAUTYNEWSLA.COM: Once they are applied, do you use Mascara?
LA SONYA: Yes. I love using mascara! It helps to make the look of the lashes have a better blend with your natural lashes. It also creates a more dramatic look.
