None to Gloss Over: The Glosses of ‘07

The plethora of lip gloss options on the market today are endless. From plumpers that promise Angelina’s volumi-lips to pearly sheens that promise Scarlett’s smirk – there is no shortage of portable potages for your pout.
This has been a big year for gloss. Generally, the glossier formulations peak during summer and we see more satin and matte coverage over the fall and winter. But, not in ‘07. This year, eyes were smoky, bold and artsy for those who dared – so lips were left to gloss it up at leisure.
Some BNLA editor-favorites this year included:
Urban Decay XXX – Shine to the extreme with these tubes of translucent peppermint-fresh gloss. From candy apple red to shimmering peach, pick up the XXX Shine Stash for eight pocket-sized options that fit perfectly in any evening clutch bag. They win for the year’s best On-the-Go-Glosses. For our favorite Irresistibly Rosy Pout, Trish McEvoy’s gloss in Pretty wins hands down. The moisture-rich formula stays on for hours and is complementary with any skin tone. Lips are washed in a sheer lollipop sheen with fine shimmering flecks that are gorgeous in sunlight or candlelight. Available at Nordstrom in Westside Pavilion.
Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker is…well, the name says it all. Our pick for the year’s best Bang for Your Buck is this Nude gloss, available at Target in West Hollywood. Not only does it visibly plump our pucker within seconds, but the universal hue gave us all the same sexy-without-trying afterglow.
…And, as demanding as we’ve come to be, we can’t ask for much more than that in a gloss. Color us satisfied in ‘07.
