  • With a name described as a fun, feminine twist on style, Stila has been a force on the cosmetics scene since its creation in 1994.

Jeanine Lobell developed her line out of necessity, when she found certain colors lacking in her own makeup kit. As a busy makeup artist in Hollywood, doing shoots for Vanity Fair, Vogue and InStyle to name a few, Jeanine used her on set musing about missing shades as a catalyst to do her own thing.

While the cosmetics themselves were of the utmost importance, Jeanine was also concerned about the brands packaging. Inspired by what went into her family recycling bin, as well as what didn’t, she developed packaging made with recycled paper, aluminum and glass. Another unexpected surprise involved putting quotes from famous women on eye shadow and blush packages.

While the best selling Lip Glaze (a super shiny lip gloss in a pen type dispenser with a handy brush applicator,) and the multitasking Convertible Color (creamy sheer tint for cheeks and lips,) anchor an ever-expanding line of fabulous scope and quality, Stila continues to rein supreme.

I am really impressed with Stila’s website (www.stilacosmetics.com). Notable sections include Consumer Awareness ~ Understanding Your Cosmetic Label, which explains in plain talk what all that gobbledy gook on the label means. This is very important for people with allergies that need to avoid certain ingredients. It also identifies info such as recommended number of months in which the product should be used. Another great section of the site is Stila Style, where you can download cool wallpapers, epostcards and cute printables like shopping lists and note cards. Vintage Stila has limited edition products and favorite shades that are soon to be “˜gone for good.’

Stila’s fall 2006 collection is called Fall in Love. It is divine and includes:

Eye shadow trio colors Silver Maple, Forest Clove and Cedar Grove.

    Cheek duo in Sugar Loaf.

    All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer

Lip Glaze in Pumpkin Spice, Spiced Cider, Spiced Ginger and Spiced Maple.

Like fine wine, Stila just gets better with time. Born out of the desire for the best and most user-friendly products, Stila continues to push the envelope with formulas and color palettes that rock our world. (In a good way.) Ever the adventurer, while always sticking close to her core values for the brand, Jeanine Lobell has created a company and a cosmetic line that defies the notion of just wanting to make us look pretty. She gives us her all, yet is always striving to do even more. Stila brings out not only the best in her, but in everyone who wears it.
