  • Lauren Conrad makes her Mark
Lauren Conrad made her debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox backstage with her new fall collection with bold Parisian statements by Mark. The inspiration for LC’s eponymous collection was the femme fatale, inspired by 40s icons from the streets of Paris. Using Mark’s newest beauty collection the look was sultry eyes, gold bronze colors, heavy black liner, full lashes and intense garnet lips.

“We wanted to create a classic, beautiful look to keep with the Parisian theme,” says Amy Nadie, lead makeup artist, mark cosmetics, “Lauren knew she wanted sultry eyes, slightly winged on the corner.”

The brooding, yet playful femme fatale was created with mark liquid liner in Cleo, followed by the new lip shade juice gems in berryliscious, topped with dew drenched gloss in juicy from the Mark collection. http://www.meetmark.com

Jared Gold teams up with Temptu
Off-site at LA’s historic Union Station, Temptu was backstage at the Jared Gold Spring Fashion Show Czarina. Temptu sponsored a 10 person team of airbrush makeup artists keyed by film and television makeup veteran Stacy Hummell.

“With Jared Gold’s direction, we created a look inspired by Los Angeles in bloom, the 17th Century White Russian court and Le Ballet Russe,” said key makeup artist Stacy Hummell. Male and female models were first airbrushed with Temptu S/B for a porcelain foundation base. Temptu S/B Hi-Def colors followed in yellow, purple, blue and pink, inspired by the first signs of spring in Los Angeles: the daffodil, jacaranda, and bougainvillea.

A colorful circus of internet darlings, reality stars and celebrities walked the runway at Jared Gold, including the notorious Traci Lords. http://www.temptu.com

Pussycat Dolls Show Stopping in Smashbox
LA Fashion Week wrapped with The Pussycat Dolls runway show and performance, which was the must-see event of the week with burlesque beauty looks re-invented by Smashbox cosmetics. P Diddy, Dr. Dre and Quincy Jones sat front row and admired the just-launched lingerie line by the Dolls creator/designer Robin Antin.

Robin Antin sent the girls strutting down the runway with lots of hair and smoldering makeup that was more brit pop than burlesque, more mods and rockers than retro pinup.

“We did a sultry, smoky cat eye using Smashbox Eye Shadow Trio in Twilight then added a soft pink highlight on the cheeks,” described Smashbox lead artist, Lori Taylor. “There were two different looks on the lips ““ a baby doll pink with Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Pout and a deep creamy red with Smashbox Photo Finish Lipstick in Lavish.” A decidedly appropriate look for the Pussycat Dolls to set the stage for their closing rock star, show-stopping performance that gave new meaning to innerwear as outerwear. http://www.smashbox.com
