cK One Summer: The Season in a Bottle

The original cK One from Calvin Klein is a classic fresh scent, so I was curious to see how their frangrancier approached the traditionally citrusy idea of summer with its limited edition cK One Summer.

I love the idea of unisex fragrances, as I usually tend toward the more masculine bergamots and musks anyway. I’m not knocking Shalimar and No. 5, of course, but the more modern scents tend to be less heavy, invasive. And cK One Summer is as light and refreshing as they come.

With top notes of tangerine, pineapple and grapefruit, the fragrance is pure days at the beach and poolside barbeques. It connotes picnics and reunions and fruit salad with marshmallows. Yet it is not so sweet that it smells like a syrupy body spray; instead, it is a dynamic, luscious pick-me-up. And while it is still technically spring until the 21, cK One Summer is perfect for any day in which the June Gloom gives way to even the smallest bit of sunshine.
