LA SUMMER FAVES
By Courtney Kretchman, Eva Leume and Stephanie Bennett
Summertime elicits a different type of fragrance in Los Angeles – or atleast we think it should. The sun is warmer, styles are simpler and people are generally lighter. Thus, your fragrance should follow in suit.
Wearing a scent too musky or strong this time of year is like trying to pull off a wool bikini. It just doesn’t fly. But, straying away from what we love – even if for just a few months – isn’t always easy. And, scent is personal. Finding a new one representative of our unique character can take time. We know this, too.
So, we at BeautyNewsLA have hit the pavement hard and come up with a few delicious suggestions perfectly suitable for summer scenting.
Spray at your leisure…

Orange Blossom by Jo Malone is a pleasant surprise to say the least. Definitely not your average orange scent. A delightful combination of orange blossom, water lilies, dewy greens and clementine leaves create one of the loveliest scents we sampled. Inspired by a visit at a Bel-Air hotel, it’s no wonder this fragrance had our Angelean noses smiling. Available at Neiman Marcus.

Mandarin Mist is a refreshing scent from Stila that feels seasonally perfect. A bit reminiscent of Clinique’s Happy, Mandarin Mist’s youthful fragrance provides a fresh, crisp jolt to awaken the senses. A sweet combination of mimosa and yuzu fruit notes ensures this scent will stay cool on even the hottest of summer days. Sold at Fred Segal.

A scientific and scentological approach to perfume, this one is no summer romance. Bliss Booster takes perfume to a new level. Unusually satisfying, the combination of light, bright fruity citrus is clean and fresh and actually energizing. Literally, this is more of a behavioral scent. The fragrance doesn’t linger too long but we loved it for the effect it had on our mood. This isn’t an ideal off-to-a-BBQ spritz, but if you’re looking for an instant mood boost, try Scentology’s Bliss Boosterfragrance. We’re not saying you should toss the Prozac, but we’re all for the notion of happy spraying. Found at select Target locations.

Moving on from citrus, we love IT Eau De Parfum for Women by Peter Thomas Roth. We love his skincare and this fragrance doesn’t disappoint. The packaging is as fresh and modern as the scent. Floral, fruit and dew drop accents top off white magnolia, violet and spice. It’s youthful without feeling childish – A classic scent that could probably take us year round. Sold at Bath & Body Works.

Lastly, we adore CLEAN Warm Cotton Eau de Parfum. It’s completely understated and utterly chic for Malibu afternoons of white sundresses and flip flops. Crisp notes of verbena and citrus combine beautifully with warm jasmine and marine essences. It feels fresh, airy and effortlessly feminine…just like we aspire to be all season long. Available at Nordstrom.
