Taking the risk of getting a short haircut is a big step for a woman with curly hair. A yen to “chic up” inspired this season the shorter cut on my mop of curls before Los Angeles Fashion Week. Sitting comfortably in a salon in Beverly Hills, I forgot that it’s too damn easy to fall in love with a style when you have a stylist doing your hair for you. The next morning, when I came to my senses in front of the bathroom mirror, I realized that it was going to take a considerable effort on my part to maintain the smooth curls I came home with. Naturally, I panicked and got on the phone with my stylist for the answer and found myself going back to an “old flame”.

When it comes to hair products, I’m always tickled by the name “Marc Anthony”, since I’m such a huge Richard Burton fan and his steamy, sexy Marc Anthony opposite Liz Taylor’s Cleopatra is one of my fave performances on DVD. I’ve had an on-again, off again love affair with the line, because I’m always changing the way I wear my hair. I’m a fickle girl… But today, I find myself back in love with Marc Anthony.

Simply Straight is an excellent line that takes the guess work out of getting those smooth, glossy locks that a short cut demands. I start out in the shower with the Instant Straightening Shampoo and finish with the Frizz Smoothing Conditioner. Before blow-drying with a round brush I combine the Frizz Smoothing Serum and Instant Straightening cream into a creamy dollop that I work through my hair from the roots to the ends. Hair stays smooth and static free while I’m stretching and shaping out my hair. For really stick straight hair, a spritz of the new Flat Iron Spray before I style with the flat iron seals and protects hair while making it as smooth and shiny as glass.
