Hair Care

February 2008

By Amy Spagnola
  • The guy behind the Abs Diet and Men’s Health Magazine recently wrote about the top eight turn-on’s for men. I jumped at the chance to read the article; the secretive lore behind men’s minds. Oh, I was there. And what were the startling and earth-shattering revelations? Did he write that women should be Kate-thin (pick one: Bosworth, Hudson, Beckinsale) in order to appeal to men? Women should have Baywatch breasts and thighs that have never met in order to score a date? Women should be wrinkle-free, bronzed, with a case of Jolie lips in order to catch “his” eye? No, instead, he wrote about the olfactory system. Wait, what!?

According to Zinczenko, “Perfume and body lotion are nice and all, but the smell of her freshly washed hair that’s nestled up under the chin on a Sunday morning is a reminder of all that’s good about relationships.”

I was thrilled! No more need to waste time with my Thighmaster, my push-up bras and my attempts at self-tanning or should I say self-carroting.

So, on to my new mission: discovering scent-sational hair products that would drive men wild with lust and longing. Here are a few products that will definitely make for male mane magnets.

Philip B White Truffle Conditioner (and Shampoo also available)

This nourishing crème should come with a “˜date guarantee.’ It will make the hair super soft, shiny and bouncy. The protein packed, nettle and thyme enhanced conditioner smells like a nature walk (sure to fire up a guy’s inner-Tarzan) and will dramatically add moisture and strength to hair. Fight the urge not to fall asleep in the shower after trying out this lavender and comfrey hair Prozac.

Powdered sugar cookies should be resisted at all costs. They are too delicious to eat just one. But if you don’t want the cookies on your waist, how about the delectable scent in your hair? Philosophy makes a 3-1 sugar cookie shampoo, body wash and bubble bath that is sure to appease any guy’s desire for dessert. And with moisturizers and an infusion of lemon zest, it’s a Valentine’s Day must.

Try Sephora stores or Nordstrom for Philosophy products.

A guy might be able to resist the scent of wilderness and home baked cookies but there’s no way he’ll be able to keep his paws off you when you wash your hair with beer! These bars can remove build-up and add shine to lackluster locks, plus, they’re made with fresh home-brewed beer and include coconut oil and shea butter to moisturize. This gives new meaning to hair Ale-peal.

Beer Shampoo is available at www.mi-spa.com or:

Happy Valentine’s Day — Lather, Love, Repeat.
