Do lanky locks have you feeling down? Are you starting to accept “bad hair days” as a staple item in your wardrobe of looks? Are you noticing that your hair isn’t quite as manageable, lustrous, and full of life as it typically is? These conditions are due to a multitude of sins – summer exposure, rapid weather changes with the changing seasons, and just not enough care. It’s takes more than just shampoo and conditioner to make hair glossy and full of life. One has to treat their hair carefully, and that includes nourishing it with carefully chosen products.

I know I can hear you thinking, “right, what the heck does she mean by NOURISHING?” It means to feed your hair, or, to be more precise, feed your scalp so that your hair grows out beautifully. Get to the “root” of the problem by treating your scalp carefully and gently, and with proper nutrients and botanicals to balance it out, relieve & remedy any scalp conditions, to soften and nourish hair strands to smooth out the cuticle, making hair shinier, thicker, and better behaved. Discipline doesn’t have to be harsh – be gentle and your hair will love you back!

Louise Galvin isn’t a name that’s well-known here in the US”¦yet. However, soon everyone will know who she is. This UK-based celebrity stylist has worked with her dad, Daniel Galvin, in his London salon for several years. Realizing that keeping hair color true is crucial to the process, Louise set about creating products that were more then just about preserving color, but about improving hair’s texture, color, and condition, all in one collection of products that use only the best quality, and natural ingredients, rather than nasty chemicals.

The Sacred Locks line is based on the herbalist traditions of the UK, and thus, uses only natural ingredients that ultimately means you need fewer products, and thankfully less effort, to get gorgeous hair. Less is more, as this fab line leaves hair silky and glossy with more volume and no greasy roots or scalp issues. Because Galvin has used only the purest ingredients, there is no product build-up. You don’t need an additional line of hair products to “switch to” to remove residue. Because Louise conducted extensive product testing on herself, her mother, and many friends and clients, she was extremely particular about how the hair looked and felt, and she was strict on eliminating “SLS, silicone, paraben, propylene glycol, and phthalates” from her formulas. Purity is crucial to Louise Galvin, and when you see what it does to your hair, you will be sold as well!

The Hair Cleanser is a clarifying shampoo, thanks to the citrus aromatherapy oils that cleanse and revitalize the hair without a lot of build-up. It foams and cleans the hair as any SLS would do. It doesn’t irritate or aggravate the sebaceous glands of the scalp, and thus, no more greasy roots. This cleanser (not a shampoo!) is PH balanced, and contains a gentle, sugar-based cleanser, lauryl glucoside ($44).

The Hair Treatment Masque is a deep conditioner of epic proportions. It provides intense moisturizing and offers that bit of TLC that damaged hair NEEDS. Left on for a minimum of 10 minutes (longer is better – adding heat helps), the masque soothes and conditions even the most damaged hair, leaving it soft and tangle-free with great shine. It also helps restore bounce and vitality to the hair thanks to a naturally modified form of honey blended with wheat proteins and natural conditioning agents for visible effect on the hair ($52).

The Hair Moisturizer, or conditioner, provides general silkening and detangling with cool, natural ingredients that soften and nourish dry damaged hair – soya, wheat, corn protein, and vitamins B and E. What’s great about this line is that it hydrates only where necessary, leaving hair smooth and shiny while enhancing the volume, and the excess simply rinses away, leaving no product build up ($48).

The Hand and Body Wash was born out of the luxe feeling hair products ultimately leave on the body. Louise “juiced” up these cleansers with invigorating citrus aromatherapy oils, while providing gentle, hydrating cleansing with ultra-mild ingredients that leave skin smooth, soft, and moisturized, without a lot of fragrance. It’s all about feeling clean ($32).

If you are traveling, there’s nothing like having travel size products to take with you. Louise Galvin realized, after numerous trips back and forth across that rather large pond, how important it was for her to be able to bring small sizes of her product line along. All four products are featured in a luxe leather bag designed by the renowned leather designer Bill Amberg. Done in renaissance green with a modern flash of cerise lining, it’s perfect for every trip”¦no matter how short ($170).

All of the Sacred Locks products feature beautiful packaging. Nothing too frilly, guys will like the packaging, and the product, just as much as girls do. The scrollwork makes it pretty to leave out on a counter.

Now, I bet somewhere along the way, you saw those price tags and felt as though you were going to have a coronary – I almost did. BUT, there is a blessing in disguise, to be sure.

Here’s why you should plunk down the dinero:

1) The products really work.

2) You don’t need to wash your hair daily thanks to these products. They leave your hair with more volume and a balanced scalp so hair doesn’t feel greasy.

3) Once you get started using this line, you actually use fewer products.

4) You can ditch buying all of those other collections of products, and you can give away the rest of what you have since you won’t need them.

If you add up the cost of all the hair products in your bathroom, you will find it’s quite a tidy sum. Enough said?

5) When you use this line and see how gorgeous your hair looks, you won’t turn back.

6) Louise created these products to be natural, and they also help in decreasing the effects of global warming. Galvin is committed to Future Forests and the CarbonNeutral program, which helps reduce CO2 emissions, and build up forests that absorb carbon dioxide (remember that piece of information from elementary school? Plants give off oxygen, and take in carbon dioxide. People take in oxygen, and give off carbon dioxide. I knew you would remember!) She has done her homework, syncing her company and products with Future Forests. Thus, by using these products, you are doing your part in scaling back global warming (don’t you feel all warm and cozy now?).

Find the Sacred Locks products at Bergdorf Goodman, select Saks Fifth Avenue stores around the US, and also at Studio at Fred Segal in Santa Monica (trés cool to be at Studio).

Now, I have to go take a shower and wash my hair with Louise’s products. They are super cool, smell great, and leave my hair looking fab!
