Spring is in full bloom, which means it’s time to freshen up your do. And renowned Stylist to the Stars Deanna Roseann is here to help you bring your locks back to life.
“Expect to see really long hair that’s one length and heavy bangs,” Deanna says. “The bangs should have a lot of versatility so they work as a fringe or side bang.” Extensions are also a great way to add length and it’s perfect for anyone growing out their hair but want long hair now.

She recommends using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as Kerastase Resistance Shampoo and Kerastase Resistance Conditioner to clean hair. Before blow-drying hair, apply Kerastase Oleo Relax to smooth dry and rebellious hair. Then apply Kerastase Lumiere Nutri-Sculpt after blow-drying hair to seal in flyaways.
If you need to use a straightening iron or hot tools (i.e. curling iron) to finish off the look, apply Redken Smooth Down to protect and smooth very unruly hair. Use this after blow-drying and before using a straightening iron or hot tools.

Of course, if long hair isn’t your thing, don’t fret, there’s a style for you too. Deanna recommends getting a graduated bob in various different lengths. “The shape is put into the hair which means less maintenance for the client. And if the client has straight hair, then most of the time they don’t even have to blow-dry,” she says.

Take Deanna’s word for it! Her clients not only include pint size starlets Sarah Jessica Parker and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, but her work can also be seen in W, Italian Vogue, and Vanity Fair, where she worked with legendary photographer Annie Leibowitz.
So what color is hot for Spring? According to Tech Colorist Dani H, who has worked on actors Patrick Dempsey and Mira Sorvino, lightening up is the way to go. If you’re going blonde, opt for a sun-kissed look like Nicole Ritchie. “It’s more natural,” he says. For those dark-haired women who can’t go blonde, Dani recommends lightening hair a level or two.

Whatever shade you choose, make sure to use John Frieda Color Glaze to keep hair shiny and Clairol Shimmer Light Shampoo to keep hair from turning brassy.
