September’s Featured Stylist: Sarra “˜Na

With clients like Kate Hudson, Sofia Coppola, Calvin Klein and Scarlett Johannsen, celebrity stylist Sarra “˜Na has quite an impressive Hollywood hair portfolio. She has collaborated with celebrated photographers such as Annie Leibovitz and Tom Munro and her work has been featured in the glossy pages of Elle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar to name a few. Born in Paris, Sarra has been doing hair since she was 16 years old. We caught up with Sarra on her mobile while working in the South of France to get the scoop on her favorite products and tips for fabulous fall hair.

When it comes to shampoo, Sarra’s pick may surprise you. “Very rich shampoos and conditioners often cause dandruff and do not rinse thoroughly,” says “Na. “Instead of using a rich shampoo to cleanse, I use something like Head & Shoulders which I know will rinse thoroughly and follow with a good conditioner.”

Sarra has an affinity for Oléo”“Relax by Kérastase to soften, smooth and add shine to coarse hair.

“This mask gives a unique coat to the hair that you can really feel right away,” said Sarra. She recommends applying the mask to damp hair, wrapping a hot, wet towel around the head (warmed in the microwave) and allowing the mask to penetrate for 15 minutes. Sarra recommends this mask to clients like Kylie Manogue to repair damage caused by bleaching or highlighting.

Another of Sarra’s favorite concoctions for dry, frizzy hair is a mixture of Magic Move red and yellow which she picks up at Rickys when she’s in New York. She mixes the two products in the palm of her hand until it produces a paste. When applied modestly to damp hair from the ends to the scalp, it produces soft texture and light control that you can still run your fingers through. When it comes to styling tools, Sarra currently loves her T3 brushes. T3 Tourmaline Brushes are ideal for smoothing, shining, polishing and are very lightweight for styling.

Lastly, Sarra was kind enough to let us in on her latest hair obsession. She recommends that people who appreciate good quality, vintage-like brushes check out the Baby Blue Brushes at the Space Salon in Soho. Sarra says the baby blue wood and white bristle hair are beautiful and great quality.
