“Little Fortunes”

There’s something in L.A. called the power lunch. You dine at a fancy restaurant you normally can’t afford, but since it’s on the corporate account you get the most expensive item while talking business with someone you otherwise wouldn’t associate with. Friends Carla O’Brien and Megan MacEachern redefined the term in 2002 during a friendly lunch in a Chinese restaurant when one of their fortune cookies read “You will make a fortune with a friend.” Thus Fortune Tee was conceived. Whoever said friends should never go into business together obviously didn’t bet on these two.

O’Brien and MacEachern started selling the baby tees at the Hollywood Farmers Market with adorable messages predicting “A nap is in my near future,” and “A surprise will appear in my pants.” Customers immediately took to the accurate fortunes which were uniquely packaged in takeout boxes. Once word got out, celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey snatched up themup for their own little ones or as gifts.

Moms aren’t left out either. Fortune Tee makes T-shirts for you and they even have you covered if you’re expecting again. With messages like “A cocktail is in my near future” and “The bigger the belly the more beautiful the baby,” you’re guaranteed to find something. Of course these tees come at a price – one that you can afford. They retail $22.00-$39.00, starting at 3-6 months and up to size 6 for kids. Women can choose from XS-XL.
