All I Want For Christmas Is My (Dog’s) Two Front Teeth
By Stephanie Bennett
While your dog is cuddled up all snug in his bed dreaming of nyla bones and beggin’ strips for stocking stuffers, the farthest thing from their mind is a trip to the dentist. However, there is no greater gift to give your pet this holiday season than Pearlie Whites. Going to the dentist is not at the top of anyone’s to do list. It is especially difficult for dogs because they have to go under anesthesia to get a thorough teeth cleaning, not just the teeth brushing the groomer may offer. Many pet owners prefer to avoid anesthesia-induced cleanings and therefore the pet’s health and hygiene suffers.

Pearlie Whites is the “pet project” of dental hygienist Dana Raphaelle, R.D.H. She has been practicing dentistry on humans for 30 years, but her affection and affinity for animals motivated her to start cleaning their teeth. Raphaelle welcomes each patient and owner into her home, where she has created a tranquil environment for the pet. In order for the procedure to be performed non-anesthetically, Raphaelle makes sure the pet is comfortable and communicates to the animal to gain its trust and cooperation throughout the hour-long cleaning.
Raphaelle begins by applying Mirror of Perfection At Ease Lavender spray to sooth the pet’s nerves. With the pet swaddled in a towel, she gently cradles its head on her lap and applies Mirror of Perfection Miracle Drops. The Miracle Drops solution has five different flower essence anesthetics that naturally ease pain, which relieves discomfort as Raphaelle is cleaning along the gum line. She uses the same tools used on people to scale the teeth, removing plaque and tartar build-up. Finally, when the arduous part is over, she sprays grapefruit seed extract on the teeth and gums for their natural anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties.
All of the Mirror of Perfection essences are completely non-toxic so they are safe to use on dogs and cats. Animals are challenging patients given the fact that they can squirm and snap under such unfamiliar circumstances. Raphaelle has the patience of a saint with these animals, maintaining her calm and treating the patient as if it was her very own pet. While this is not exactly a trip to the doggie bakery, it is necessary for pets who want to have their treats and eat them too!
