Happy Tails are Here Again…

By Erin Paullus

Dog breath is awful. Hot, stinky, and stale, it can prevent even the most devoted owner from lavishing love. But double the dog breath, from two little canine kissers, and things are downright ugly. That’s why right after bringing home my second rescue dog; I picked up a bottle of Happy Tails Canine Spa Product’s “Smog Dog Remedy”. Made with natural ingredients such as peppermint and fennel, a sprtiz or two of Smog Dog in the dog’s water or mouth helps to eliminate odors from both ends by aiding in digestion as well as zapping unpleasant doggie breath. But beyond bad breath, Happy Tails products can solve a number of problems, including those brought on by winter weather.

Lorna Paxton launched Happy Tails in April 2004 after years of working in the beauty industry. The goal was to create a line of spa products using a holistic approach; to clean the dog both outside and inside. “(We’re) Not just solving the symptoms, but curing the root of the problem,” Paxton explains. “Right now, all the rage is to have the trendy little diamond crusted collars, and that’s great, but we want to have something that not only looks good, but really works.”

So, which Happy Tails products work best for winter woes? One of the line’s best-selling products is “Dry Dog Instant Clean”, a spray on cleanser that can be used when it’s simply too cold for the tub. With a mixture that includes aloe and kiwi, Dry Dog is the perfect solution to bad odors and difficult coat maintenance in cold temperatures. Another winter time treat is the “BowWOW Butter Balm.” This moisturizing treatment combats chapped skin or cracked paws in the winter and continues to be useful into summertime when the soothing formula can relieve the discomfort of insect bites.

To celebrate the New Year, Happy Tails is introducing a brand new “Spa on the Go” collection. Travel sizes of shampoo, conditioner, calming spritzer, and “Fur Breeze,” the Happytails version of pet perfume, are included in this tiny little tote so that canines can have their own spa vacation. For more information on this brand new product or to purchase products from the line, visit www.happytailsspa.com. For those that would prefer to let someone else do the washing, several groomers including LA Dogworks in Hollywood and The Pet Care Company in Manhattan Beach are currently using Happy Tails products.
