The “Neiman Marcus” of beauty apothecary stores, bluemercury is a one stop shop for upscale brands of fragrance, cosmetics, candles, baby, hair and skin care. The Century City opening marks its 17th location to launch, but this is the first on the west coast - And for this, Angelenos are thankful.

The skilled staff is knowledgeable about the store’s inventory. Some favorites include notable brands such as Skinceuticals, Darphin, Remede, Bliss, hair care by Frederic Fekkai and Philip B., Diptyque candles, Laura Mercier and Trish McEvoy cosmetics. The list goes on, yet it is clearly edited and organized so that the bright airy storefront is not cluttered or intimidating. Any of the bluemercury employees can guide an inquiring customer on a tour around the store, while offering educated suggestions to address any quandary.

The bluemercury store goes beyond beauty retail therapy, because behind the back door lies a signature spa. The spa is tucked away in the back of the store and may only be a few feet away from the mall foot traffic, but it immediately takes your mind to completely different realm of relaxation. The menu reads a selection of eight facials, waxing services, microdermabrasion, body polish, massages, makeup application and brow styling.

Mall parking is validated for three hours. After what we thought would be a quick trip to bluemercury, we grabbed a Pinkberry with our remaining 10 minutes and hit the road with our faces a glow.
