Hot Child in the City: Cooling, Moisturizing Mists for Every Budget

By Morgan Snouffer

You know how it goes in August – the sun, the heat, the grimy, sweaty self you become after a day of work, not to mention the commute! Doesn’t a quick dash through the sprinkler sound great right now? A few of the world’s most revered skincare companies have taken that idea and created moisturizing sprays and mists that rehydrate, refreshen and rejuvenate the epidermis in one quick spritz. And the best part is that, no matter how big or small your beauty allowance is, there is one just right for you!

From the company that introduced the world’s most famous bottled water comes one of the first moisturizing mists affordable for the average consumer. Evian Brumisateur Mineral Spray claims to contain the same balance of magnesium, calcium and phosphorous as human blood, making it an ideal way to hydrate and nourish facial skin. The 5 oz. size should last for more than a month, even with daily use, and, at around $10 a bottle, is a great value.

Shiseido’s The Skincare Soothing Spray’s claim to fame is it’s power to protect inflamed, sensitive or “temporarily unstable” skin, but it’s real draw is that it’s just so darned refreshing! My very hip former roommate used to keep a bottle in her fridge – nothing feels better after a little too much sun!

For those of you who like your beauty products to multitask, B. Kamins Chemist does double duty with its Flower Water Treatment Spray. Both a fragrance and a moisturizer, the Spray contains B. Kamins’ Bio-Maple compound and pure glacier water from the Canadian mountains. And if it’s not your face but your body that needs refreshing, ModelCo brings Skin Drink to the table. Containing ginkgo, papaya, green tea and bamboo, it’s like a Jamba Juice special for your skin! Both the Flower Water Treatment and Skin Drink sprays are available for about $30 a bottle.

La Mer has become synonymous with top-of-the-line, luxury skincare and its version of the moisturizing spray, The Mist, doesn’t disappoint. A live internal magnet floats inside every bottle of The Mist, creating a negative-ion-rich environment that aims to amp up the energy level of tired, dehydrated skin with visible results. It’s also recommended as men’s after-shave care. The Mist is pricey, but everyone’s entitled to indulge every now and then!
