Skin Care

  • The eyes may be the window to your soul, but your skin is a more truthful barometer of health. This Valentine season, impress you and your honey with more than just flirty charm – healthy, glowing skin will also help show your passion and ardor.

It’s also the time to build up good skin habits. For those who are at a loss to decide which ‘natural’ brands to try, Zia Natural Skincare is a great start. With over 20 years of research, Zia fuses the best of both natural and scientific worlds by combining whole ingredients and the latest technology. Cruelty-free, it doesn’t have any abrasive chemicals. I love how most of the line contain uplifting scents of citrus and lavender.

Easy to mix & match within its extensive lines (Skin Basics, Ultimates, Treatments, Body Care, etc.), you pick what you need. The prices are friendly on the wallet, so give it a whirl – you’ve got nothing to lose by using pure botanical ingredients in your new regimen.

The Ultimate Cleansing Mousse ($19.95) is a good foaming cleanser for all types. Its non-drying formula gently lathers away makeup while the age-fighting blend of red raspberry and lycopene control cellular damage. Follow this with the lovely citrus Ultimate Toning Mist ($19.95) to refine your pores.

A bestseller, the Daily Moisture Screen SPF 15 ($19.95) from the Skin Basics line is a combo sunscreen & moisturizer that will work well with most types. I like the lightweight feel that the aloe and rice bran oil provide, and it shouldn’t interfere with your makeup application. Squalane, jojoba and shea butter help support cell renewal.

From the Treatments line, the Fresh Papaya Enzyme Mask ($19.95) is another winner. With green papaya to gently buff the skin’s surface, it banishes dead skin cells for a glowing visage. For the sensitive gals, start slowly by using it for about 10 minutes each time, building up to 40 over time. The unfiltered Hawaiian honey will hydrate and nourish deeply – my skin has never felt softer.

For body care, I love the Age-Defying Body Buff ($14.95). Great for winter skin, it’s made of pure brown sugar – I was tempted to eat it (almost). Unlike some harsh scrubs, this gentle exfoliating polish does the trick when you’re too lazy to moisturize after showering. Just massage it all over body and you’re done! It doesn’t hurt that it also contains organic clover honey to deliver nutrients while their TeaOxâ„¢ complex fights various skin damage.

The Ultimate Body Butter ($16.95) is an amazing moisturizer. The lavender scent calms while shea and mango butters create a moisture shield. For an intensive cream, it actually absorbs quickly. As a luxurious home spa treatment, smooth it on after a long bath. It will feel like you’ve just stepped out of a body wrap.
