Skin Deep Spa: A Huntington Beach Day Spa With A Reputation for Excellence

I still haven’t decided what was most impressive, the GM Collins Vitamin C facial, the expansive space, or having the opportunity to chat with Skin Deep’s fabulous owner and founder, Deborah Woods”¦it was probably the combination of all three.

Skin Deep looks like an office building from the outside (and in fact it is a converted office building) but once inside that sterile feeling quickly evaporates. The waiting room/reception also doubles as a boutique with an assortment of products for makeup, hair, and skin as well as jewelry and accessories from local designers.

My Spa Experience
After being greeted by Skin Deep Spa founder Deborah Woods, I was quickly introduced to Rose who whisked me back to one of their several treatment rooms for a GM Collins facial.
Likes: Rose was extremely gentle; I was a bit apprehensive about getting this type of facial because all too often I have left spas with irritated skin after facials. Rather, I had the experience that you think you should have when getting a facial. I left feeling relaxed and refreshed, and my skin looked great; I had the sort of glow that you hope you’ll leave with when getting a facial.

Dislikes: I have to cut them a little slack because they were in the process of renovations however, the treatment rooms were a tad spartan, had thin burnt orange carpet (almost like they had stripped the carpet and this is what was left underneath) and very little (to no) decoration.

Overall impression
Owner Deborah Woods has created a truly unique and special place with Skin Deep. From the colorful butterflies hanging on the wall to motivate employees (and symbolize Skin Deep’s “metamorphosis”) as the spa continues to expand, to the list of services that cater specifically to men, thoughtful details nurture the mind, body and spirit.
