Skin Care
March 2006

In a world where the new injectable cosmeceuticals are touted as the answer to the surgical face lift, it is such a relief to be reminded that there are painless, healthy alternatives to treating a woman’s skin like a carpet that needs to be stretched and pulled in order to smooth out the wrinkles, or a lifeless stone that needs to burned and buffed in order to retain it’s luster. Italy’s top selling skin care company, Rilastil, is a welcome return to the kind of luxury we’re accustomed to. Rilastil skin care was developed based on the common sense notion that nourishing your skin will give you the same or better results than the more popular invasive procedures: Botox, Restylane or Radiance. After all, doesn’t all this poking, pricking and peeling feel like the furthest thing from luxury imaginable?

Many of Rilastil’s ingredients: two kinds of Japanese mushrooms, milk sugar, olive oil, and shea butter, to name a few, can be found on the menu at your favorite gourmet health food bistro. These products are a veritable feast for your face. So, if you’re like me and the mere thought of a needle in your face is a terror, you’ll find that Rilastil offers a gentle non-invasive approach that actually works. Now that’s luxury, darling.

When we caught up with Rilastil USA’s Jennifer Bingham, a perky blonde who looks at least 10 years younger than her age, at the Beauty Collection in Tarzana, she was demonstrating 3 “regenerating products” classified as such because of the 2 kinds of Japanese mushrooms which are the key ingredients in this remarkable beauty trio.

Rilastil’s Intensive Face Regenerating Serum only recently arrived at the Beauty Collection and sold out in the first 10 days. This little “miracle in a bottle” is a luscious mix of milk sugar to help retain moisture, silk powder to tone and firm immediately, ceramides (a fundamental component in skin) to accelerate skin healing and 2 kinds of Japanese mushrooms. The Japanese mushrooms are powerful anti-oxidants that speed skin cell renewal reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Your skin responds to this “topical nutrition” because anti-oxidants in combination with prolein (found in milk) are vital to the natural production of collagen. You can actually feel the toning properties in the Serum as soon as it goes on and it also absorbs very quickly. But over time, those worry little lines begin to fill in and the overall texture of your skin is smoother and firmer. As Jennifer pointed out, “It’s amazing what your skin can do, if you provide it with the proper nutrition.”

Rilastil’s Intensive Regenerating Cream was introduced in the 90′s and is a favorite among jet setters, including super-model Linda Evangelista, who regularly had it in their flight bags when they traveled since up until 2 years ago it was not available in the United States. It’s also more than likely that classic Italian beauties Sophia Loren and Monica Bellucci are using Rilastil today. The cream is very lightly scented and to our delight does not make the skin sensitive to the sun. It absorbs very quickly and makes skin smooth and silky with or without make-up. Jennifer suggested using the Intensive Face Regenerating Serum and the Intensive Face Regenerating Cream together, with the Serum going on first. However, I use the Serum at night and the Cream during the day because I have slightly oily skin. I’ve had no breakouts or clogged pores. Instead the texture of my skin has improved daily and people have noticed.

Rilastil’s Intensive Body Regenerating Serum proved to be a miracle. It has kept this California Girl’s skin silky and smooth even through the sunniest days at the beach in and out of the salt water. It absorbs so quickly that you don’t feel like you are covered with grease, but the texture of your skin feels like creamy butter. Needless to say the cumulative effects of using all three products are astounding.

After that interview I came home with samples of everything. Within 3 days I saw those tiny lines on my forehead and in-between my eyebrows fade and slowly start to disappear. In 5 days people were asking me if I had Botox or a chemical peel. And, within 7 days, I was on the phone with Jennifer Bingham asking for a full-sized bottle of the Serum, a full size of the Cream, and some more Body Serum… if you please… because I don’t ever want to be without Rilastil and I didn’t know when I’d have the chance to drive back to the Beauty Collection in Tarzana. I do know that if I’m in the neighborhood I’d better call ahead because Rilastil sells out very quickly. For more information go to: www.italianskincare.com
