Even die hard Los Angeles fans of The Purple & Gold can appreciate Green every once in awhile. We may not be rushing off to Boston but we do take notice when a new tanning salon comes to town, announcing itself as Green.
Sun Lounge Tanning Studio is a solar-powered tanning salon just over the Cahuenga Pass, depending on where you call home base. It’s the first of its kind to claim itself as eco-friendly by reducing its energy demand using sun power.
Sustainable products were used to design the interior décor, as well. Helping to reduce the demand on other woods that are becoming scarce due to deforestation, Sun Lounge uses Bamboo throughout the salon.
The walls are covered in eco-friendly paints, as well”¦which I’m told can actually be good for us. For those who want to pick up a can, Sherwin-Williams GreenSureâ„¢ paints use sustainable raw materials, such as soy and sunflower oil. The hot water tank is heated HOT WATER is heated by a tank-less water heater which reduces CO2 by burning less natural gas, and supplying hot water only when needed through a flash-heat process.
Lastly, Sun Lounge offers a unique recycling program for customers who return bottles from beverages purchased at the studio – $1 credit towards any tanning product or service.
Green aspects aside, employees here are friendly, helpful and professional. Perhaps it’s under the instruction of owner and former actor Nick Spano. Spano is very proud of his latest venture and his enthusiasm equally pervades through his front desk staff.
Offering everything from UV-free spray tanning and varying strengths of tanning beds to facials and hair removal, Sun Lounge is a haven for anyone wanting to purchase their summer glow ““ and then some.
