When Diem Brown felt she needed a treatment in order to clear her chakras, her negativity, and her mind in general in order to better reach her goals, she did what many Hollywood people would do—she went to a spa.

Now, most people outside of the South Bay haven’t even heard of Gardena, much less its healing retreat, Crystal Dreams, owned and operated by Reiki Master and certified Angel Therapy Practitioner Debbie Reasbeck. Located near El Camino College, Deb sees her place as an oasis for local South Bay-ites to relax, receive treatements, and purchase such products as Sun’s Eye Gemscents, which are scented oils containing actual gemstones.

Another fascinating product was a Himalayan rock salt lamp—well, we’ve all seen these at the mall, but this one contained several rock salt spheres. I was told that once the spheres were warmed by the light bulb, one could hold the spheres which were helpful for people with carpal tunnel, arthritis, and the like. I was tense and under deadline, so, like Diem, a new contestant on MTV’s reality show Made I decided to have the Reiki, energy, and chakra clearing treatment. Deb took me into a treatment room decorated in shades of blue, with a small aquarium and a fountain. Shells and crystals of various sizes and shapes rounded out the decor.

Deb put on her Crystal Dreams meditation tape while she worked with my chakras utilizing gemstones, Reiki, and other energy healing techniques. I have had similar treatments before, and between her work and the CD I was soon in a very deep trance.

I did not fall asleep—her CD is not the somnolent “new age” music we’re used to, but rather the music to accompany the guided visualization part of the tape and which continues once that segment is over is a soaring, sweeping sound that is guaranteed NOT to lull one to sleep. Still, when my treatment was over and I felt much, much better, I was amazed to find that an hour and a half had passed!

After the treatment Deb invited me to try one of her most popular items—a machine connected to her computer which reads and photographs auras. Indeed, her “Aura Parties” are some of her most popular events. Other events include readings with Angel cards, classes on Reiki, meditation, and more. Her shop also carries pendulums, books, and much more, and will soon have a fragrance bar in the shop. Diem’s segment airs starting June 30 on MTV.
